“Scrapbook” Vacations…a story told mostly with pictures, and the imagination of the reader.
Even people who claim to love the high-pressured lifestyle will admit, in their quieter moments, that there are times when they just want to get away from it all, if only for a short time.
Vacations have the potential to break into the stress cycle. We emerge from a successful vacation feeling ready to take on the world again. We gain perspective on our problems, get to relax with our families and friends, and get a break from our usual routines.
We have throughout our lifetime taken vacations if only in our minds and through travel. Travel that may be next door or even across the continent: But it does not matter, a vacation is just that: A time to relax and enjoy each other’s company.
For now, though, let’s look at some of that evidence.
As with the rest of my scrapbook section, the pictures are not done in a chronological order but how they were located or as I had time to add. I actually started this page 11/29/13 after seeing the post on Facebook from Gina.Again many more pictures could have been used and perhaps one day someone will continue with a story line.
These pictures were captured November 2013. The family had just spent Thanksgiving with Dennis and Carol and decided to spend some time in their cabin located in Wear’s Valley.

Vacations are fun, no matter where you travel. It’s not a vacation unless its fun!
Opal, Carol walking the St. Pete area and Dennis relaxing at the gardens. Notice the Star!
Dennis, Carol, Opal and Donn in the St. Petersburg area during Christmas Feast Pictures taken around November of 2012. Not a vacation but an invite of our neighbors from TN to enjoy the sights and sounds of another land… The picture was taken by former mayor of St. Petersburg Bill Foster.
Fourth of July at Bobby and Glady’s Home Vacations can be as close as your own home. This was one example.

Donna, Carol and Gladys (Gladys points the way for Bobby to hang with Dennis, Dennis and Danny).
First trip to Canada:
This was one of our first vacations together. We spent time exploring Niagara Falls, part of New York, Niagara on the Lake, wine country, Toronto, including areas such as China Town, Royal Ontario Museum, Eglinton Mall, Casa Loma, Little Italy, the Beaches and others. Here we were fortunate enough to find and purchase the Jesus statue. Originally from France in the 1800’s. It is well made, heavy and I carried it from the antigue store to the plane and home. The original owners had brought it over with them when they moved from France to Toronto.
Early in life we also enjoyed vacations and get togethers with my cousin Joe and his wife Gisela. These are memories that will last a lifetime. Shown are trips to Nevada, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
Dennis & Carol at the Hover Dam and Grand Canyon
Ok Gisela, you must behave! Ha!
Joe, Gisela and Carol near our motel New York. We spend many days exploring Las Vegas, Hover Dam and the Grand Canyon. It was a great trip. Other trips included, North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.
Mexico dive trip:
Dennis and I took a trip to Cozumel in order to clelbrate his diving completition. We had lots of fun, I think diving the 150’ crystal clear reef was an experience we will never forget…..
Here I take you back to the days of “Sea Hunt” presented by Dennis & Dennis. If you look closely perhaps you can tell the difference!
Clue, Dennis is on the left and “Magnum” on the right.
Dennis is having his morning breakfast then afternoon dive.
Daily breakfast on the water. Hard to believe how young Dennis was to take on such a dive!
