By now you are probably wondering where I got this name and why I am sharing it now! It goes back to when I was around three or four years of age and some good friends of Nonno and Nonna had a last name that was similiar. My family members then called me Danny and I took on the last name (to myself) Stefano at that age and never shared it with anyone. Guess just being a child, a child who in many ways, never grew up. (Stefano is the Italian name for Steven in English).
I decided to do research on the name Stefano and this is what I discovered. Remember, I am writing a book with most of it true as I know it, and part of it is shared history. Some tells what I imagined as a child and how it carried on into my adult years.
After doing research on the internet, this is what I found out about the name Stefano after sixty-five years of living him!
What I Read…
Stefano is an uncompromising, courageous, energetic man, who likes to think that he is pretty tough. But despite a certain coarseness and a triumphant air, he is an extremely sensitive individual (although he tends to keep this under control), and a very charming one at that (a quality that he discreetly cultivates). Deep down he is a shy and anxious soul who doubts in his capacities; shortcomings for which he compensates beautifully by a very high level of activity and an iron will. He moves through life with a natural ease, adapts rapidly to most situations, can be opportunistic and has plenty of know how. He is nevertheless rather strict and loathes flattery, deceit, pretentiousness, and most of all injustice… A materialistic man, he has a good head for business and takes a very hands-on approach. Theory only interests him if it can be put into practice. As a child, Stefano is rather fragile and sensitive. His overwhelmingly emotional nature is much easier to externalize with anger than with tenderness. Others tend to assume that he is as resilient as he seems, but one should never judge a book by its cover… He enjoys tinkering, building, and repairing things. (Remember the background of Pinocchio).
What does he like?
Stefano enjoys the company of others, has a profound sense of friendship and can be pretty persuasive when he wants to be. He values his freedom above all and enjoys tasting the pleasures that this world has to offer. He is a man of conquest, who doesn´t count his troubles or his efforts… But with such impatience! He is ardent and passionate when it comes to his feelings and needs to be able to communicate with his partner on a profound level. He is a very considerate man, and as far as he is concerned, trust, respect, sincerity, and freedom are essential values in a relationship. He won´t forgive a broken promise easily (but will) and would always rather hear an unpleasant truth, than a convenient falsehood.
So this is what I found out in research after 65 years of living who I am. I realize in life you are seen in many “lights” and this perhaps is the “light” I want to shine!
My story is the best I could do and although it took many years to write, it took a lifetime to live. As I have said in my Prelude…
Following was a voyage that began before we knew it and will end before we will know it. As such long journeys take place, it so sadly finds that many colonies along the way settle to the bottom of the ocean never knowing if they will ever surface again. I have written only the top of the surface to the edge of the reef. Much more lies at the bottom of the ocean just waiting for discovery. As in each land, and sea sighting there will always be more to tell and from a corral’s point of view and a turtle’s narrow sighting, all will appear different.
Enjoy what you read, Use your imagination and skills to figure out the perfect ending or perhaps a better continuation; wherever, life may take you on this wonderful planet we call earth. This perfect reef we live in is immense and it all belongs to every one of us to love, to use, and to enjoy for a lifetime. Take care of it; know that in your heart you must do your part to make this world a better place for you and those that follow.
As with everything we do in life, a key to good living is balance of work, love, life, and fun! Therefore, ending what I call “The Rest of Me”.
Hey fellow with a million smackers
And nervous indigestion
Rich fellow, eats milk and crackers
I’ll ask you one question
You silly so and so
With all your dough….
Are you havin’ any fun?
What y’gettin’ out o’ livin’?
What good is what you’ve got
If you’re not havin’ any fun?
Are you havin’ any laughs?
Are you gettin’ any lovin’?
If other people do,
So can you, have a little fun
After the honey’s in the cone
Little bees go out and play
Even the old grey mare down home
Has got to have hay….HEY!
You better have some fun
You ain’t gonna live forever
Before you’re old and gray, feel okay
Have your little fun, son!
Have your little fun!
Why do you work and slave and save?
Life is full of ifs and buts
You know the squirrels save and save
And what have they got…..NUTS!
Better have a little fun
You ain’t gonna live forever
Before you’re old and grey, still okay
Have your little fun, son!
Have your little fun!
Are you havin’ any fun?
“The waves end at shore, only to be followed by new ones!”(You ain’t going to live forever!) So go out and have some fun! Danny…
